Recently due to inspirational friend’s website and blog (DQ’s and PJ’s), I have decided to try a better approach on taking photos of the figurine collection that i have own for some time. Funny thing is that it is harder than i thought, especially to begin the plan or the get up and setup for them.
I am fortunate enough to finish the test last week, thus give me several days to try around the photo shoot etc.
About my camera, while i am not using a DLSR camera (is that what they called?) i am using the regular Digital Camera, Olympus SP-350. This camera is ‘given’ to me by my supervisor at my office, who are quite skilled photograph (especially in nature and landscape photographs). In any case here are some of the pictures i took and well… here goes nothing.
did you see the white flakes?
This picture is taken with one of the presets that is available on my camera and i believe it was on the Scene mode (indoor), and ahem… you’ll notice some white flakes there yes… ahem.. its dust… yeap … i forgotten to clean it up before taking this picture hahahaha…. In any case i noticed that i dont really liked the result of the pictures i took (i took a lot and this is only one of them) and decided that i need more consul from others, i turn to my supervisor and PJ for tips and suggestions and here is what i got finally
i liked this one so o much better
I somewhat liked this one result compared to the previous one. The mode was on Manual and… i did tinker the exposures and other stuff and well… i really liked it. In addition to that i added some paper on the back and sides, thus the background is white. I am glad i was using the paper as background, though i was being suggested to use even clothes and perhaps i too need a brighter paper. Finally i decided to take the full figure size photo shoot with current setup, and here is what i got.
full sized figurine photo
At this point i really liked my setup, the only thing that really irks me is the flash that was reflected off the pumpkin. If there are any suggestions or tips to avoid that reflection, they would be gladly taken.
I am kinda glad that i finally beginning to do this photo shoot project and well… hopefully soon i’ll be able to take more pictures, and well some thoughts about the figures and other stuff. Since most of my shoot will be indoor and done on the evening hours, i think i would need to get more knowledge on reflectors and lightings, and again suggestions are gladly welcomed.
Until the next blog then.
Note: For those who’ve read the blog? which photo you liked better? the 1st one with black background or the 2nd one with white blackground? any improvements i can make or suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks again for reading my blog and thoughts.
