Well its February now and that mark my 1 month of being lazy for writing the Blog, which is not good and it is something i will have to
Well here and i thought it was such a simple title, but it is the truth. Now whats great is that the whole Friday and Saturday; i have been experiencing a lot of fun with friends.
Friday, Feb 5 2010.
I joined an anime oriented podcast that is hosted by a friend of mine Ben. Well i met this friend back from my friend’s girlfriend birthday party that was held around November or October last week, I do have to say he is a very interesting person ^^.
In any case, the podcast started at around 8:00 pm, as myself I almost cant make it due to some extra hours that i need to do in the office during that day. I ended up arriving at home at around 7:15 pm and luckily I was able to make it back home.
He invited 3 other people into the podcast, two of them i dont really recognize or know of and the other one is Frances.
The podcast total length is about 1 hour or so (i think more) and pretty much the topic of the day is in regards of ‘Moe’, ‘Fandom’ and favorite/disliked characters of each of us.
I am of course nervous and also Frances and the other two person blends in to the podcast conversation very naturally, in addition seems that they are handling and very knowledgeable; compared to them I feel a little bit not in there hahahaha… all i can do is pretty much laugh ^.^… its not like a fake laugh or anything, I do really really had a good time and enjoyed the podcast show.
here is the site for the podcast i’ve mentioned. Its called AnimeGenesis, from what my friend told me; he has been doing this for over 4 years. Kudos for him ^.^)b

I am pretty excited today, the reason is that I am finally able to learn something about figurine photography (I will post some of the picture’s I’ve taken on the different blog next time). I brought several figurine that i have to my friend’s, Jose, apartment. His Though I have to say he lived pretty far from me, I tend to visit my friends who lived far away, as matter of fact most of them probably lived about 20-30 miles distance from my residence.
I took a camera with me
On my way to Jose’s apartment, I made a detour due to that they might not be at home if i arrived earlier times. Since I will be seeing another friend of mine next week, I finally decided to get his belated Christmas present (yep its pretty late allright hahaha^^;)
I make a little stop at Frank n Sons, its a place where i usually shop for my figures/rines and model kit locally, though i started to lose with with local distributors (not vendors though) due their recent trouble fulfilling pre-orders that i’ve made. In there i saw a shop that sells Mc Farlane’s Dragons figure series, I have long watched this figurines and I always thought it will be a great present for another friend of mine, since he really loves Dragons and that Dragon is… great; though later on today i’ve found out a lot of people having issue with the wings attachment. In any case here is the dragon i’ve bought my friend (took from the official website ^^)
Thats a pretty good looking Dragon no ^^?
In any case, I arrived at my friend’s place and found out that the person who i intended to give this above ,giant scary intimidating cool looking, dragon as matter of fact will come and visit Jose’s apartment. Which is great and I immediately presented the dragon to him and he’s quite happy about that.
Another thing that happened that day is that i’ve finally able to grasp a little bit of figurine photography, thanks to my friend Frances, i was able to learn a lot on that day.
Summary on that day is as follow:
1. Background – choose a background that will emphasize one of the colors on the figurines, lets say the eye color, or some part of the outfit. However it is advise not to choose color which will ‘wash-out’ the colors that was intended to be highlighted in the figurine. Depending on the figurine itself, there are many things can be done as far as background and it will all depended on one’s creativity, that is what i thought, and I have to say she is very creative on what she had thought on her figurine shoot.
2. Lights – my friend showed me that the adjustable table lamps are your best friends (not the clip-able ones). Her suggestion of spiral-ized bulb and daylight colored lamp is good too. In addition to that different tricks to have the lights bounce or having to reduce the light intensity with paper and other things like that.
3. Camera Settings – She told me about the ISO settings how if there were bright light a lower ISO is needed as less light area may need higher ISO settings, Her preference of mode is set to P which to be honest i do not know what that means but still using it hahaha….; aside from that she mentioned about the white balances setting that i have in my SP-350 camera (yep its an old camera 5 years old) , she mentioned that it is good to play around with the color settings and color balances in Adobe Photoshop. Flashlight is a nemesis and have to be avoided at all cost.
4. Environment – many nitpick and small things can be used as background even a real life outdoor environment, things such as plants and grass are great backgrounds for figurines pictures. She had shown me several of her past pictures which creates different feeling of the figurines.
I still cant believe i spent entire afternoon learning how to take a good pictures of figurines ^^; and once again I would like to thank my friend Jose for providing the time and space; Frances to teach me how to took figurine pictures correctly.
Oh wait I also forgot to mention that we also have a great delivery call-in Chinese Japanese dinner. We have a Singaporean Style Fried Rice Noodle, Crunch Roll, Sweet and Sour Pork, Szechuan Chicken, California Roll(?), Sun Roll; ahemm… i am a damn foodie ^^;….
Sunday, February 7th 2009 – not so fun day >.<…
Well… had some major clean up on my garage, found out a box that my friend left for me to safekeep is wet >.<… and had to double check if his stuff is dry (which they are.. phew…)
Got a haircut finally and heck next week is Lunar (Chinese) New Year, so a haircut is a must hehe….
and earlier 4 hours before i start to wrote this blog half of my house’s power went out and it appears that one of my power outlet is causing all the commotion; thus i was out with no electricity during that 4 hours period.
That is all for what’s up for me.
I will put another blog that is about the figurine and which as well as pictures of what myself and my friend’s work with the figurines we did on last weekend.
Question of the day: how long should a blog be?? and oh favorite word of the day is 歌は命の種
